The Retreat

Ayurveda is the ancient Indian medicine and holistic system of health and well being a sister science to Yoga. The retreat includes yoga and meditation twice daily, Ayurvedic oil massages ( 1 is included in the price and more are available at an additional cost ), an individual Ayurvedic diet & lifestyle consultation to help you establish your specific constitution, as well as lectures on how to understand more about your body, what foods are better for you, and ways that help you to find more balance in your body and mind.

You will also enjoy plenty of relaxation time, walks and silent walks, delicious vegetarian/vegan foods and time for you too!



Although Ayurveda dates back 5000 years to the great sages of ancient India, it is still a relevant health system, offering us a “users manual” for how to stay balanced and healthy. Its holistic approach sees body, mind and soul as a single entity. Both Yoga and Ayurveda were created to keep the body and mind strong, allowing people to focus on the really important job of finding their true purpose. Much of their advice is common sense, and has much to teach us about finding balance in today’s busy world. The focus is on practical diet and lifestyle advice to help you feel full of life, and minimise physical illness and mental stress. Use both of these ancient sciences to discover your purpose, whilst .staying in balance with your own nature and the changing world around you.

The Location

The Retreat will be held at the gorgeous ecologically run Welsh Retreat House in Llandysul, Carmarthenshire, Wales, just a few miles away from the beautiful Welsh coastline and beaches. The retreat house is set in 24 acres of lush magical land with 6 acres of bluebell woodlands alongside the small river Bargoed - perfect for silent meditative walks, with many special areas for quiet moments of contemplation or play. The accommodation is a self-contained cottage with a separate renovated barn for the yoga classes and meditations. The space is run entirely on ecological principles. The hot water and all rooms are heated by a central thermal store, fed by the wood burner and solar panels. Most of the rooms are twin rooms, which can also be made into a double if you are coming with your partner.

The Schedule

7:00 a.m.             

Wake up, silence, hot water and lemon, fruit or snack             

7.30 - 8.45 a.m. 

Meditation, mantra chanting and talk to open the day             

9:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Morning yoga and pranayama class

11.00 a.m.    

Full Vegetarian/Vegan Brunch

12:00 - 5:00 p.m.   

Ayurvedic oil massages, private 1-1    Ayurvedic consultations and free time to read, explore and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

5:00 – 7:00 p.m.     

Evening yoga and meditation class

7:15 p.m.    

Delicious vegetarian/vegan dinner

After dinner there will be free time to rest, spend time with others and some evenings we will be showing some documentaries on Ayurveda and Yoga. Also, close to this location in Wales is a beautiful Interfaith community called Skanda Vale. There will be an option to visit this one evening to participate in some Vedic ceremonies called pujas which are a traditional part of yoga practise (more will be explained during the retreat).

The yoga retreat starts with arrivals anytime after midday on the Saturday with the first class at 4pm. The yoga retreat finishes around 1pm on the Thursday with brunch followed by a closing ceremony to send you on your way.
